LA County Fire enforces Zone Zero in Santa Clarita
Santa Clarita is a contract city: fire protection comes from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, whose stations and Battalion 6 crews cover Valencia, Saugus, Newhall, and Canyon Country. LACoFD's Forestry Division already runs annual defensible space inspections across the valley's hazard zones, and it is the department that adopts and enforces the state's 2025 hazard maps locally. Zone 0 layers onto that existing program. Enforcement opens education-first, per the April 2026 draft.
The City of Santa Clarita runs its own Emergency Management division alongside county fire, with resident preparedness programs and alert systems. Compliance obligations, though, sit with the county fire code and your parcel.
